In India’s Jharkhand state, a wild elephant’s attacks have killed 20 people over 9 days. Officials state these deaths occurred between January 1 and 9, but the elephant has not yet been captured.
Indian media reports a high alert has been issued in the area, with a team of over 100 forest officials searching for the elephant. Indian officials say the elephant frequently changes position at night, making it difficult to track.
Authorities note the elephant is solitary, and this behavior may end within 15 to 20 days.
