Bannu Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ajjad Khan revealed on Wednesday that 27 police officers were killed in 134 terrorist attacks on law enforcement across the district in 2025.
Speaking at a press conference in his office, DIG Khan outlined the security situation and anti-militant operations. He noted that police conducted targeted operations against insurgents, facing assaults on stations, posts, checkpoints, vans, and patrols. These incidents claimed 27 officers’ lives and injured 79, while forces eliminated 53 terrorists and wounded 163.
Bannu police ran 168 intelligence-based operations, arresting 105 militants and killing 65, for a total of 170 neutralized threats. Joint police-security force actions in Miryan Haved Daud, Mamand Khel, and Domel killed 22 militants, captured 4, and destroyed multiple hideouts—but cost one constable’s life, injured 11 officers, and wounded 5 civilians.
Terrorists launched 20 drone strikes on police and civilian sites, injuring 19 officers, killing 9 civilians, and hurting 33 others. An anti-drone system introduced in July intercepted over 300 attacks and downed 4 drones, markedly improving defenses.
Despite resource constraints, enhancements like barriers, boundary walls, bulletproof gates, and CCTV were installed. The Safe City Project is underway to protect police and residents. Jirgas with local elders formed peace committees, enabling community-backed thwarting of attacks on stations and checkpoints, plus operations in Kakki, Bharath Kho, Barg, Sheikhak, and elsewhere.
To strengthen the force, police received drones, anti-drone guns, sniper rifles, APCs, thermal imagers, tactical helmets, and armored vehicles. DIG Khan vowed continued commitment to law, order, terrorism eradication, and citizen safety.
