US President Donald Trump emphasized that diplomacy with Iran remains an option on the table.
In an interview with the Axios website on Monday, Trump said, “They want to make a deal, I know that. They have reached out several times… They want to talk.”
Trump further stated that the situation with Iran is “unstable” after sending a “large naval fleet” to the region. Referencing the decision to send the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln to the Middle East, he said, “We have a large naval fleet near Iran… bigger than the one around Venezuela.” However, Trump refrained from discussing the options presented to him by his national security team.
