Meghan Markle shows little interest in reconciling with Prince Harry’s royal family, having severed ties for good.
The 44-year-old former actress often shares personal milestones with fans online alongside her husband, the Duke of Sussex. Yet she seems hesitant about his recent UK security victory, which could ease returns to Britain for Harry and their children.
Meghan will undoubtedly back upgrades to Harry’s “foolproof” protection. Still, she may discourage bringing Archie and Lilibet back amid family tensions.
“This puts Meghan in a rather awkward position, since I really don’t think she is eager to return to what she sees as a somewhat hostile environment,” said royal author Christopher Andersen.
The Mail on Sunday reported that 41-year-old Harry prevailed in his long battle for UK government-funded security. Last month, the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (RAVEC) reviewed his risk and deemed him eligible for armed protection.
Any Sussex family trip to London would likely help Archie and Lilibet build ties with their grandfather, King Charles. “Charles is a huge softy when it comes to his grandkids, so I’m sure they’d be welcomed with open arms,” Andersen noted.
He added that the royal rift runs deep: “That doesn’t mean that Harry will ever be fully embraced by the royal family and allowed to return to some sort of semi-official role. That ship has sailed—and that goes double for Meghan.”
