Following a reduction in the intensity of US threats regarding military options against Iran, US President Donald Trump has come forward to express his gratitude. The White House chief sent a thank-you message via his platform “Truth Social,” stating: “I greatly appreciate the Iranian leadership’s cancellation of all scheduled death sentences (over 800 executions) for tomorrow.”
He concluded his post with the words: “Thank you!” He also said that after the cancellation of the death sentences scheduled for tomorrow, he has convinced himself not to attack Iran. This came to light when US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff revealed that he had contacted the Iranians.
Witkoff said in statements on Friday that we contacted the Iranians regarding our concerns over the killing of protesters and the death penalty process. He also confirmed that a direct message was sent to Iran. He stated that Trump had warned the Iranians, and on his instructions, we contacted them yesterday about our concerns regarding killings and mass death sentences, and this has now stopped.
He further said that only Trump possesses the unchallenged power that compels people to comply. Nevertheless, he emphasized hope for a diplomatic solution. He said there are four issues that need resolution: uranium enrichment, missiles, and their agents in the Middle East. He noted that Iran is in a difficult economic situation—there is no water for 16 hours a day, no electricity for 12 hours, and inflation exceeds 50%. If they want to return to the global family, it can be resolved diplomatically because the alternative is bad.
