U.S. President Donald Trump has warned that if Nouri al-Maliki becomes Iraq’s Prime Minister again, the United States will not provide any assistance to Iraq.
Trump said that if Iraq reinstates Nouri al-Maliki as Prime Minister, it would be a very wrong decision. He added that if al-Maliki is elected Prime Minister, the U.S. will not help Iraq. During al-Maliki’s previous tenure, Iraq was plunged into poverty and insecurity, and without American support, the chances of Iraq achieving success, prosperity, or freedom are zero.
It is noteworthy that Iraq’s Shia political alliance nominated Nouri al-Maliki for Prime Minister last week. Al-Maliki previously served two terms as Iraq’s Prime Minister from 2006 to 2014, a period marked by increased sectarian violence, tension with political rivals, and strained relations with the United States.
