According to foreign news agencies, more than 50 people were also injured in the accident, and the injured have been shifted to hospitals.
The incident occurred in Sukhio district of Nakhon Ratchasima province. The train was traveling from Thailand’s capital Bangkok towards Ubon Ratchathani province.
Reports indicate the train collided with a crane that fell on the track, causing several carriages to derail. Local media reported that a fire also broke out in the train following the accident, with police warning of a potential rise in the death toll.
