India: Punjab Police Arrest Parents of Gangster Goldy Brar in 2024 Extortion Case
Indian Punjab Police have arrested the parents of Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar in a 2024 extortion case.
Goldy Brar’s father, Shamshir Singh, and mother, Preet Pal Kaur, were taken into custody from Punjab state on Monday.
According to Indian media, the arrested suspects were residing in their home in Adesh Nagar area of Muksar district, while their ancestral connection is from Faridkot district. This case was registered in 2024 based on a complaint from a resident of Muksar.
This action against Goldy Brar’s parents is part of the ongoing crackdown against gangsters in the state, under which networks of nearly 1,200 associates and 600 family members of about 60 overseas gangsters have been identified.
Indian media says that Satinderjeet Singh alias Goldy Brar is one of the main accused in the 2022 murder of famous Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala and has also accepted responsibility for the killing.
According to Indian media, Goldy Brar is currently in the US; he went to Canada on a study visa in 2017. Previously, he was an active member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang but last year separated from it and joined the Brar, Rohit Godara, and Kala Jathedi gang.
The Indian government designated Goldy Brar a terrorist in 2024 on charges of illegal activities, smuggling weapons, ammunition, and explosives into India via drones from across the border, and involvement in murder incidents in India.
