Iran has begun preparations to permanently disconnect itself from the global internet. According to The Telegraph, Iran intends to create a separate, controlled internet for its citizens, where only those with government approval will access the full internet; the rest will be limited to a domestic, restricted network cut off from the outside world. This move comes amid recent protests against rising inflation and economic issues, during which the government imposed strict security measures, arrests, and curfews. The government has also enforced a complete communication blackout in the country in the context of these protests.
