Nick Jonas delivered an unplanned tribute to Pakistani pop icon Nazia Hasan before a Jonas Brothers show in New York.
The 33-year-old shared the moment on Instagram as part of the band’s “pre-show hype song” tradition for the JONAS20: Greetings From Your Hometown Tour. The clip, captioned “tonight’s pre show hype song,” shows Nick dancing to Aap Jaisa Koi with wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas and brothers Kevin and Joe, just moments before taking the stage at UBS Arena in Belmont Park. The 15-second video opens with the three brothers and later includes Priyanka, capturing a light, celebratory mood ahead of the performance. Fans noted the significance of this choice, as Aap Jaisa Koi originated in the 1980 film Qurbani and is regarded as a landmark track by Nazia Hasan, who is celebrated as a pioneering pop star in South Asia. Hasan’s songs, composed by Biddu, are considered foundational to the pop culture landscape in Pakistan and India during the 1970s and 1980s. The Jonas Brothers’ pre-concert clip follows a sequence of similar clips featuring South Asian tunes, including an earlier viral video of the group dancing to Shararat, highlighting their growing appreciation for regional music.
