Sweden’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Industry Ebba Busch has warned that Sweden could become America’s next priority target after Greenland due to its mineral resources.
Explaining the need to strengthen the mining industry, she said mineral resources could become the focus of President Trump’s attention, making Sweden the next priority target. This was reported by Russian news agency Sputnik on Tuesday.
Ebba Busch stated: “We must decide for ourselves how to use our resources. I want Sweden to be difficult to attain, and for leaders like Donald Trump to find it even harder to control.”
According to her, rare earth elements and minerals play a crucial role in modern technology, and Sweden possesses 7 out of 17 rare earth elements found in its land.
Ebba Busch clarified that the Swedish government is planning a “more radical” strategy for the mining industry, centered on strengthening supply security and maintaining Sweden’s autonomy. She added: “We need to consider adopting a more radical mindset because the U.S. is now attacking specific countries and declaring control over everything.”
Sweden’s Defense Minister, Paul Jonsson, said on Monday that President Trump’s stance on Greenland is “creating a sense of uncertainty within NATO.”
