Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar, has termed the Palestinian issue as the root cause of instability in the Middle East.
Permanent Representative Asim Iftikhar expressed deep concern over continuous violations of the ceasefire in Gaza while addressing the Security Council on the Middle East situation.
The Pakistani representative declared attacks in Gaza, forced displacement, and destruction as unacceptable, stating that Pakistan condemns attacks on UN installations and UNRWA.
Pakistan’s Permanent Representative Asim Iftikhar said that implementation of the peace plan under Security Council Resolution 2803 is essential.
The Pakistani representative demanded a permanent ceasefire, humanitarian aid, and immediate reconstruction of Gaza, stating that the establishment of a Palestinian state is inevitable with East Jerusalem as its capital, and an independent Palestinian state should be established on the pre-1967 borders.
