Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held a telephone conversation during which they discussed the situation in the region.
During the call, the Saudi crown prince made it clear that Saudi Arabia rejects any kind of aggression or provocation against Iran and will not allow its land or airspace to be used for actions against Iran.
On this occasion, the Iranian president said that Iran has always welcomed efforts to stop war under international law, and that it still welcomes any initiative aimed at preventing conflict.
President Masoud Pezeshkian added that U.S. threats against Iran will achieve nothing except increased instability in the region, and that America’s threats and psychological tactics are meant to undermine regional security.
The Iranian president said that unity among Islamic countries can guarantee lasting security, stability, and peace in the region.
It is worth noting that the U.S. Navy’s USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier and its accompanying warships have arrived in the Middle East.
This carrier group has been deployed to the region at a time when tensions between the United States and Iran had peaked in recent days over the Iranian government’s crackdown on large-scale protest demonstrations in the country. Although U.S. President Donald Trump later stepped back from launching military action against Iran, he has said that all options remain on the table.
The U.S. Central Command said in a statement on social media platform X that the carrier group is currently deployed in the Middle East “to promote regional security and stability.”
