WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump has placed new plaques along the White House’s West Wing Colonnade “Presidential Walk of Fame,” featuring sharp, partisan jabs at recent former presidents. Journalists noticed the additions Wednesday, sparking renewed controversy in political circles.
One plaque dubs ex-President Joe Biden “Sleepy Joe Biden,” calling him “the worst president in American history.” Biden lacks a portrait; instead, a framed autopen signature stands in.
Barack Obama’s plaque names him “Barack Hussein Obama” and brands him “one of the most divisive political figures in American history.”
Bill Clinton’s reads: “In 2016, President Clinton’s wife, Hillary Clinton, lost the presidency to President Donald J. Trump.”
The White House confirmed Trump penned several plaques himself, framing them as part of his vision to redefine the executive mansion.
Unveiled in September outside the Oval Office, the display showcases portraits of all prior presidents except Biden.
Trump has driven other bold White House alterations, like swapping Rose Garden turf for stone paving and razing East Wing sections for a new ballroom.
Analysts call this a historic first: overtly political, mocking critiques of ex-presidents openly displayed inside the White House. Expect heated backlash ahead.
