Former Pakistani cricketer Rana Naveed-ul-Hasan has shared his Big Bash League (BBL) playing experience regarding the issue of star batter Babar Azam not being given a strike by Steve Smith.
In a statement posted on a social media website, he said that the Big Bash League taught him that Australians are straightforward cricketers. Rana Naveed-ul-Hasan stated that having been part of the BBL for a long time, he has seen how big leagues operate. Unlike team culture in Pakistan, players there have no fear of big names.
He said Australians only believe in ability; when you play with international cricketers, you are judged by your impact. What Steve Smith did proves where they place you. He also said that Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan need to rethink their credentials in modern T20 cricket.
It may be recalled that in yesterday’s match between Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder, Steve Smith refused to take a run on a shot played by Babar Azam. Babar Azam was unhappy with Steve Smith not running and expressed displeasure by hitting his bat on the boundary line after getting out.
