Whether Pakistan qualifies for the semi-final or not, if Sri Lanka qualifies for the semi-final, the first semi-final will be played in Colombo, regardless of whether the opponent is the Indian team or any other.
In a statement sent to all stakeholders after the completion of the Super Eight stage, the ICC has explained the arrangements for the semi-finals.
According to the statement, the first semi-final could be held in Colombo or Kolkata, and this decision will be made based on specific conditions.
The statement states that if Pakistan qualifies for the semi-final, it will play Semi-Final One in Colombo on March 4.
If Pakistan fails to qualify for the semi-final but Sri Lanka does and faces a team other than India, Sri Lanka will play Semi-Final One in Colombo.
The ICC has also clarified that if neither Pakistan nor Sri Lanka reaches the semi-final, then Semi-Final One will be played in Kolkata, while Semi-Final Two will be in Mumbai.
If India reaches the semi-final, it will play in Mumbai, except in the case where it faces Pakistan, in which case the match will be moved to Colombo.
