Fida Muhammad Khan Wazir, former nazim of Bannu district’s Domel tehsil, suffered minor injuries in a Tuesday bomb blast outside his Domel Bazaar office.
Bannu police spokesperson Asif Hassan confirmed to Dawn that a pre-planted improvised explosive device (IED) detonated at the office gate. Police swiftly cordoned the area and launched an investigation.
Wazir was in his vehicle at the time; the blast destroyed it entirely and damaged the gate and surroundings. A key peace advocate, he helped form tribal lashkars against terrorism and was heading to a tribal elders’ meeting when attacked.
Tribal leaders protested at the scene, vowing retaliation, with armed men spotted on Bannu Kohat Road. Police are monitoring closely.
