Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated on Tuesday that the government is fully prepared for talks with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) if the party approaches genuinely, but rejects any negotiations based on illegal demands or blackmail.
Speaking at a cabinet meeting, Shehbaz stressed he has repeatedly invited PTI to dialogue in the National Assembly, emphasizing legitimate and constitutional grounds. “If they’re ready for this, the Government of Pakistan is definitely ready,” he said, underscoring that political harmony is essential for national progress and prosperity.
While committed to dialogue, the government stands firm against coercion or pressure tactics that violate legal norms.
Shehbaz also hailed the day’s milestone: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) privatization. He noted sealed bids have been received in a fully transparent, public auction—the largest transaction in Pakistan’s history. He commended the Deputy Prime Minister, Defence Minister, and Finance Minister for ensuring fairness and credibility throughout the process.
