PML-N Senator Rana Sanaullah, also Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political and Public Affairs, urged trust-building and ongoing dialogue among Pakistan’s “top five” leaders on Thursday, warning no political progress is possible without high-level confidence measures.
Speaking on Geo News’ Capital Talk, he listed Nawaz Sharif, PM Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari, Imran Khan, and a fifth unnamed figure. Sanaullah insisted lower-level informal talks won’t break the deadlock—only top-tier engagement can.
He rebuffed PTI leader Amir Dogar’s call for him to foster dialogue, saying his own contacts wouldn’t suffice; leadership-level talks are essential.
Sanaullah demanded shutdowns of social media accounts attacking state institutions, rejecting PTI’s claim of no control. “PTI must publicly disavow them and close them—or redirect propaganda at rivals, not the state,” he said.
He warned PTI’s February 8 protest and wheel-jam strike would flop, drawing strict action and more losses. “Withdraw it; confrontation only worsens things.”
Dogar countered that PTI endured political victimization in 2025 but hoped 2026 brings relief, noting recent stability. He pushed for meetings with Imran Khan to discuss realities and solutions, specifically requesting access for Opposition Leaders Allama Raja Nasir Abbas (Senate) and Mahmood Achakzai (National Assembly).
Sanaullah replied that halting anti-institution campaigns could improve the climate, enabling such meetings and easing tensions. He noted PTI founder Imran Khan’s sister was recently barred from media post-jail visit by the superintendent.
Dogar echoed the need for “top five” talks to end deadlock, even if gradual, keeping doors open for cooperation.
