The Sindh Building Control Authority has said that the owner of Gul Plaza constructed 1200 shops against the approved map.
SBCA states that permission was granted for the construction of 1021 shops according to the map; 179 shops were built in excess of the approved map, with shops constructed in corridors and exit areas. According to SBCA, in 1998, additional floors were built in the Gul Plaza building, shops were made in the parking area, and the roof was converted into parking. As per the map, Gul Plaza was permitted to have three floors including the basement; the additional floor of Gul Plaza was regularized in 2003.
