The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) praised the latest Household Integrated Economic Survey (HIES) 2024–25 findings from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, showing major gains in digital connectivity nationwide.
Over 96% of households now have mobile or smartphone access, with more than 70% using internet—up from 34% in 2019. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa tops household digital access at 77%.
Individual Usage Trends
Among those aged 10+, mobile/smartphone ownership rose from 45% in 2019 to 50% in 2025, with 92% nationwide mobile phone usage. Internet penetration jumped from 17% to 57%, with urban women slightly outpacing men (71% vs. 67%).
These strides reflect government and PTA efforts on affordability, availability, and digital literacy, providing key data for policy and regulation.
