National Food Security Minister Rana Tanvir Hussain stated that a better sugarcane crop is expected this year, which will help stabilize sugar prices in the market. He informed the National Assembly during question hour today that last year’s sugarcane crop was severely affected by climate change, causing production to drop from 68 lakh metric tons to 58 lakh metric tons.
Assurances on Wheat
The federal minister assured the house that strategic reserves of wheat crop will be maintained. He said the government will ensure provision of support price of 3,500 rupees per maund to wheat growers.
Steel Mills Revival
Parliamentary Secretary for Industries and Production Shahid Usman informed the house that the government has decided to revive Pakistan Steel Mills. He stated that a summary in this regard has been sent by the Ministry of Industries and Production.
