For the first time in Pakistan’s history, the province of Balochistan has crossed a new milestone by completing the recruitment process for over 100 government positions with the help of artificial intelligence.
Details indicate that January 18 holds historic significance in Balochistan’s administrative history—a moment that could redefine government recruitment processes not only in the province but across Pakistan.
In a province long plagued by incompetence, nepotism, and a culture of favoritism, a remarkable four-hour experiment proved that artificial intelligence (AI) can completely eliminate human bias in public sector hiring.
This was the first instance where the provincial Finance Department conducted the entire recruitment for over 100 sub-accountant positions fully under an AI-based system.
From question preparation, exams, evaluation, shortlisting, to even issuing appointment orders—every step was handled by algorithms.
The process culminated when Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti personally distributed appointment letters to successful candidates, selected not by any selection board but by an automated system.
Officials say that Imran Zarqon, with expertise in AI governance and human resource management, developed a framework aimed at ensuring transparency, speed, and low cost.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti approved his proposal, and the AI system was prepared to automate every aspect of recruitment.
A question bank of 30,000 questions was prepared based on the prescribed syllabus. On January 18, during the test, candidates were given smart tablets in the exam hall; each entered their roll number, after which the AI system instantly generated a unique multiple-choice question paper.
Thus, no two candidates received the same paper, and as soon as any candidate completed the exam, the system immediately displayed their score on the central screen, along with their name and district, visible to everyone.
