Provincial officer Mirza Sajid Baig, renowned for his strict discipline and tough administration, has taken charge as Superintendent of Adiala Jail, the historic prison in Rawalpindi. Previously the Superintendent of Faisalabad Jail, his appointment comes at a time when perceptions have grown that some high-profile prisoners held there—convicted in serious cases—are becoming uncontrollable and hurling abuse indiscriminately. This jail houses convicted prisoners from the federal capital, including those involved in terrorism, drug smuggling, and anti-state activities among other dangerous inmates. Currently, PTI founder Imran Khan is also serving his sentence there after conviction in major cases.
