The DPO has issued a travel advisory in anticipation of a snowstorm in Murree. According to DPO Dr. Reza Tanveer Supra, there is a possibility of heavy snowfall in Murree from this evening until tomorrow evening; tourists and citizens should completely avoid traveling to Murree at night, as falling temperatures could form a glass-like hard layer of ice on the roads.
The DPO said that brakes do not work on icy roads, nighttime travel can be dangerous, and in darkness and fog, it becomes extremely difficult for snow removal machinery to operate; no vehicle without snow chains on tires will be allowed entry into Murree.
The DPO advised that before heading to Murree, keep the vehicle’s fuel tank full, check mechanical fitness, ensure brakes, wipers, heater, and defogger are functioning properly; on icy roads, maintain low speed and stay 50 meters away from the vehicle ahead. He further stated that if the heater is on in the car, keep the windows open, as oxygen deficiency can cause loss of life; in fog and snowfall, ensure the use of fog lights and hazard lights, and do not park vehicles on highways or slopes to avoid obstructing snow removal.
The DPO said to strictly follow the instructions of police deployed at checkpoints, and in case of emergency or accident, immediately call the police helpline 15.
