Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that a security threat existed prior to Chief Minister Suhail Afridi’s visit, and he was informed about it.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, he said a security plan was devised, and visits were conducted via alternate routes and locations instead of the planned ones. Sharjeel Inam Memon noted that Nasser Shah contacted PTI leaders to coordinate the program, advising them on the first day to visit certain areas, avoid others, and highlighting threats in specific spots.
He added that during this time, incidents of stone-pelting on police, damage to media vehicles, and mistreatment of journalists occurred, with disorder created by exploiting the security situation. Memon remarked that once permission for the rally was granted, a statement emerged within five minutes refusing to hold it; constructive discussions took place in a positive environment, but despite security restrictions, they proceeded to District Central, violating their commitment. The next day, full security was provided for their Hyderabad visit.
