Sindh Government Abolishes ‘Number System’ in All Education Boards, Approves Grading System
Karachi: The Sindh government has abolished the ‘number system’ in all educational boards of the province. According to Sindh Minister for Universities Ismail Rahu, a new grading system has been approved for Matric and Intermediate, under which students scoring less than 40% will be considered failed.
Ismail Rahu stated that the outdated number system prevalent in educational boards for exam results has been eliminated, and approval has been given to implement a new ‘grading system’ of international standards. This important decision has been made in light of the policy decisions taken by the Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC) at the federal level.
Phased Implementation:
He explained that the new grading system will be implemented province-wide in phases, starting from the first annual exams of 9th and 11th (SSC-I / HSSC-I) in the current year 2026. According to the provincial minister, it will also apply to the 10th and 12th (SSC-II / HSSC-II) annual exams in 2027. Now, students’ performance will be divided into the following grades instead of numbers.
